Friends of Endcliffe Playground was set up three years ago by a group of people who felt passionately that their children, and the children of Sheffield, deserved a better playground in one of the most popular and well visited parks in the city.

Our aim is to create a fully inclusive playground that will enable children of all abilities to play together, one that will enhance the feeling of normality for disabled children and is yet exciting and stimulating for the most able children.

As of 4^th May, the total we've raised is £293,000 through awards from the National Lottery, Veolia Environmental Trust, Section 106 funding, Grants for the Arts, Help a Hallam Child, Wild Country (rock climbing company), Riverdale Round Table, several local Trusts and Foundations, Richard Hawley (singer/song writer) as well as the local community’s incredible generosity.

Work is schedule to start in June and be completed by August 2008.  The Council have followed a ‘value engineering’ approach to get the best value for the money we’ve raised and they are in the process of awarding the contract to the lowest bidder. 

If we want to include ALL elements of design in the playground, we still need to raise the last few thousand pounds.  Every penny counts and the community could really hold the key to achieving our aims. 

The target on this website has now been set as £10,000.  We are so nearly there.. go on, please help us achieve the best playground possible for all of our children!!!
